Get on the Road to Recovery
The many types of physical therapy options that we offer include
- Acute and Chronic pain. Manual therapy, Kinesiology Tape and other modalities are combined with an in-home exercise program. You’ll do stretches and exercises at home to complement what we do in the office, decreasing your discomfort and promoting improved function.
- Athletic rehabilitation. Competing is intense for young athletes, weekend warriors and elite athletes alike. Our long-term solutions can help you recover and compete again, as well as decrease risk of re-injury.
- Arthritis. Balancing exercise and activity will keep your joints and muscles lubricated and loose. Our arthritis protocol is personalized to make sure that each patient gets the care they need to fit their lifestyle.
- Post-surgical rehabilitation. Your body is relearning how to function post-operatively. Physical therapy will focus on improving range of motion and strength of appropriate muscles, while reducing adhesions and scar tissue. This focus gives you long-term optimal function. Although physical therapy immediately post-surgically is typically ideal, it can be helpful even months or years down the road.
- Coordination and balance rehabilitation. Your muscles, brain and nerves form the network that strengthens muscles and ligaments. Rehabilitation for coordination and balance can help the muscles and nerves function more efficiently, making them stronger and smarter. This quickens the communication between muscles, nerves, and the brain to decrease chances of injury and improve your performance.
- Myofascial release. Manual pressure is applied to loosen restrictions in your muscles and connective tissue. Blood flow to the areas of trigger points is increased. This brings fresh oxygen and other nutrients to the tissues, promoting healing and decreasing spasms of the muscles.
- Kinesio Tape. By applying therapeutic tape, tight areas of the body open up to allow greater blood circulation. The tape can be used to encourage contraction of a muscle to promote strengthening of that muscle. This is often used for postural muscles. The tape can also be applied to discourage muscle contraction, relaxing tissue and decreasing muscle spasms. The therapeutic tape stabilizes joints and addresses your soft tissues.
- Pregnancy and Postpartum. A woman’s body experiences many changes during pregnancy and postpartum. As your body changes to accommodate the baby, you may start to feel discomfort through the low back, hips, and SI joint regions. Physical therapy will provide treatment during and following pregnancy to address the changes and stress your body encounters. Some common conditions we treat are joint pain, sciatica, diastasis recti, abdominal and core weakness, and scar pain following c-section.
Why Choose Physical Therapy?
There is a myriad of options available to you when you seek help for a health-related issue. We recommend physical therapy because of its five core benefits:
- Strength and flexibility. Injury and surgery can weaken your muscles. Weakening of a muscle will lead to decreased function and tightening of another muscle. Through exercises, stretches, and functional activities, we reinvigorate them to improve your mobility, flexibility and power. You’ll benefit from accelerated healing and recovery, as well as gain tools to minimize risk of re-injury.
- Enhanced blood circulation. When you perform routine exercise, you’ll have better blood circulation. This produces higher oxygen levels throughout the body. With more oxygen, you can perform at a higher level.
- Better endurance. With physical therapy, you’ll have greater endurance and longevity in the muscles of your body. Physical therapy will improve the mechanics of your posture and movement patterns, which allows the muscles and joints to function more efficiently and effectively in the long-term.
- Psychological wellness. Physical therapy helps to create a strong and healthy mind. It will build your determination, focus and coping skills to address the challenges of recovery. A focus of physical therapy is to promote independence and self-confidence in your ability to be an active participant in your healing and on-going health.
- Anti-aging. You can better maintain your physique with physical therapy, making it a powerful way to approach anti-aging through natural means. Following an exercise/stretching/activity plan developed specifically for you will promote optimal health while aging.
